A History of Underwear and Lingerie06.20.08

The Teddy

A teddie or teddy is a form of undergarments similar to a bodysuit which is mostly worn in the boudoir. Dissimilar to a bodysuit however, it is usually more sheer and much looser and may be made to slip of the shoulders instead of open at the crotch. The teddy is generally worn for the tantalizing look, rather than for pragmatic reasons.

The Bra

In the late eighteen eighties the Frenchwoman Herminie Cadolle introduced the first modern brassiere. This was a two-piece undergarment known as le bien-etre (the well-being). The lower section was a corset for the waist while the top section supported the breasts by the use of straps over the shoulders. By 1905 the upper section half was being sold separately as a soutien-gorge (breast-supporter, using a euphemism for breast that conventionally means throat), the name by which bras are still called in France. Cadolle’s company is still making and selling lingerie today.

How To Achieve A Great Hair Style06.11.08

Having stylish hair isn’t simply about switching styles for whatever is ‘in’ this season. You need to tread the line between high fashion and fashion that suits you. Truly stylish hair is carefully styled to make the best of you. A little bit of knowledge will make your next trip to the stylists a joy.

2 If you have an oval face, show it off! An oval face is generally egg shaped and balanced on top and bottom. This shape is considered ideal, so have fun with it. Any kind of hairstyle flatters this type of face so you can go ahead and explore different styles.

As you inhale the crisp air and pull your tweed coat a little closer you relish the fact that fall is here. That is until you remember that your crush has finally noticed how awesome you are and asked you on a date—and left the plans up to you. Dinner-and-a-movie just won’t do. For one, you’re stuck between that lull of great summer blockbusters and Christmas season Oscar hopefuls. And for two, dinner-and-a-movie is overdone and lackluster. You need an idea that will show your crush how uber-cool and unique you are. Here are 5 Fabulous Fall First-Date Ideas!

Pinot Noir and Paint
Try this one on for size: painting pottery. Before you nix the idea, stop and think about the super-sexy scene in Ghost where Demi Moore’s character is throwing a pot and Patrick Swayze’s half-nekkid body is pressed up against her. While most paint-your-own-pottery studios do require shirts it won’t squelch the fun. Most allow food and beverages and some even permit alcohol. So, grab a bottle of wine and your date, and head for a pottery studio near you.

Sound Byte for Success10.03.06

Everyone knows that the dating world can be tough. That’s why so many companies are pro’s at marketing their products to people trying to make their best first impression. Whether it’s a traditional advertisement for make-up or hair dye to the more subtle advertising campaigns of automobiles, watches, and clothes they are all trying to make you believe that their product will make you a winner in an admirer’s eyes. And you don’t have long to make that great first impression, either.

Studies show that people take 5 seconds, or less, to size someone up. So, you’ve showered, shaved, and put on matching socks. You may be easy on the eyes, but how about the ears? A worthy candidate approaches you and starts a conversation. Let’s pretend that this person skipped all those cliché lines and just said, “Hello, my name is . . .” What do you say?

Why Men Cheat10.01.06

It has been suggested that humans were never truly designed to be monogamous, that our quest for ‘survival of the fittest’ determines a lot of our behavior patterns.

It’s only fair to start by saying that both genders cheat, and women are catching up, if not superseding, their male counterparts. It has been suggested that humans were never truly designed to be monogamous, that our quest for ‘survival of the fittest’ determines a lot of our behavior patterns.
